Vince McMahon took over what was in the Worldwide Wrestling Federation in 1982 from his father. He eventually rebranded it as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which later became World Wrestling Entertainment WWE. Throughout the years of the wrestling industry, several events have pulled in old and new fans as they cheered on charismatic superstars, from The Rock to Shawn Michaels to John Cena. From Raw to Wrestlemania, there’s always a way to watch some of these dynamic events.

Monday Night Raw

Looking for something to do on a Monday night? If so, you can always tune in to the flagship program, Monday Night Raw. Airing since 1993,  it often features thrilling matches and dynamic storylines that keep people glued to the TV. As an important part of wrestling programming, it’s often a precursor to upcoming pay-per-view events.

You can expect guest appearances here, as well as look forward to Dean’s episodes like WWE, drafts, tribute, and anniversaries. The three-hour format allows fans to enjoy various matches and promos, and for the wrestlers to show off their character development. In 2012, the show reached a milestone as it achieved its 1000th episode.

Friday Night SmackDown

Since 1999 Friday night, SmackDown has delivered entertainment every Friday night. It’s the ideal place to watch many rivalries among the biggest stars. A standout moment was John Cena’s debut. Eventually, the show added new titles for wrestlers to achieve, such as Universal Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship.

NXT

Don’t worry Fridays and Mondays aren’t the only days to catch a regular wrestling show. Airing each Tuesday night, NXT also shows emerging wrestling talent. Starting in 2010, the show’s then-unique reality show structure helped it stand out from other wrestling shows. In the initial format, it showed rookie wrestlers getting mentorship from WWE superstars. Eventually, that format gave way to more traditional wrestling. The top title is the NXT championship, and they also have the NXT tag team in North American championships.

Royal Rumble

This event airs in January and features 30-person battles. The prize? A championship match at WrestleMania. The Royal Rumble match begins with two wrestlers in the ring. Then, every 90 seconds another participant enters. Elimination happens when someone goes over the top rope, and both feet touch the floor. The last person standing has a guaranteed title match at WrestleMania. The event has featured many returns and debuts of wrestling legends Triple H and John Cena have all made comebacks here. The most victories of this event go to Stone Cold Steve Austin with three. As of 2018, the Women’s Royal Rumble allowed the women to have their features.

Survivor Series

This show is where WWE Raw and Smackdown collide. The series is the time for teams from these other shows to battle one another for dominance. It debuted in 1987 and is held in November. Featuring elimination tag team matches that have five-on-five or four-on-four participants, it creates a thrilling event for all. The match continues until one team is the last team standing. Until then, elimination can happen to submission, disqualification counts out, or a pinfall.
